Isaiah Thomas Signs with Local Middle School Team to Prove All He Needs is a Chance

In an attempt to prove Isaiah Thomas has fully recovered from his plaguing hip injury, Thomas has signed with the Livingston Tigers Middle School basketball team. This move comes days after Thomas announced he was finally fully healed and needed someone to give him a shot to show the King of the 4th Quarter was back. Despite averaging 12.2 points and 3.7 assists with the Washington Wizards this past season, Thomas was waived after being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers mid-season and has remained unsigned. Mere moments after news broke across the world, Thomas shared his excitement via twitter, “Beyond BLESSED and grateful to receive this opportunity from Livingston Middle. Time to finally show the world the REAL IT they’ve been missing. Killa Szn starts NOW. #thatSLOWgrind”

After a disappointing 4-14 season shortened by Covid-19, the Tigers are turning over nearly half their roster, hoping to find a desperate need of scoring from the former NBA All-Star. After both point guards graduated onto high-school, the school felt they needed to make a splash before the season started. However, it wasn’t all joy from the team following the announcement. Self-proclaimed best player Timmy Burns, who averaged 7.1 points and 2.9 rebounds last season, felt qualms about the signing. “Honestly, it’s going to be tough to share the court with such a ball-dominant player, but the rest of the boys and I are willing to make it work.”  Head Coach Eric Schmitz, who had been rumored to be on the hot seat, was more than ecstatic to land Thomas:

“I think Thomas has enormous potential to take our team to the next level and be the piece we’ve been missing these past couple years to get us over the hump,” Schmitz told The Closeout.

While there have been concerns from rival schools about his eligibility, no comment has been made from any high-ranking league officials.
